Dinner Salad

Had a good dinner tonight of a large salad. It was just a regular salad of lettuces, olives, sprouts, yellow tomato, sliced almonds with Bragg's salad dressing. But, I also added sauteed Jerusalem artichokes. They turned out pretty good. Here's the recipe: http://jerusalemartichokerecipes.blogspot.com/2010/10/jerusalem-artichokes-with-sage-recipe.html

Odd Day

Well, my plans for the Farmer's Market bit the dust today. My mom changed her mind ... so, we went to WalMart to get Ezra's cat litter and canned crap along with a bunch of other stuff I did not want to get. I'm not eating it!! Then, we went to BelAir & I was able to get a few good things on my list.
A really surprising thing came in the mail. A $56 check! It is a refund from California for paying too much on the mobile home registration when I first bought it, apparently. That was a nice surprise. And, it is spent already ...
Got home in time to watch BlytheRawLive. And, one of the producers in chat said they are going to send me some free stuff from the Blythe shop for being their number 1 fan! Eeeks! Such a nice offer. Now, lets see if they get back to me for my address! haha!

Fresh Food From the Farm!

Just got an email from the gal I get eggs from. She'll be delivering my 2 dozen eggs next Wed. Plus, a mixed bag of squash and a basket of figs! $13 for all. Not bad! So, I have to make sure I save back $13 cash for her! May have to get a dozen eggs at the Farmer's market this weekend, though. I should have contacted her earlier in the week & would have gotten a delivery yesterday. My bad!

My mom is learning!

I am thrilled and surprised to say that my mom wants to stop eating crap! She asked to go to the Farmer's market this weekend! She asked me to start making her eat what I eat! I hope this isn't just a phase (hard to tell with her sometimes!) She asked me if her lunch meat has any good stuff in it! NOOOO! So, she wants me to get organic chicken or turkey breast to slice thin ... told her it won't be as thin as lunch meat, but we'll sure try! This is a big shift for her. Her pills are making her feel awful all the time & she constantly asks what to do to get off of at least some of them. I keep telling her. Maybe she is ready to listen. I did get her off of 2 of them last year (I refused to pick them up from the pharmacy!) that were pretty much a no brainer. Fosamax and another one that I can't remember the name of. She feels so lousy today, she stayed in her room most of the day ...

So, my mom wanted to plant Jerusalem artichoke. I did. I know nothing about this plant at all. I left it in the planter until the tops pretty much died.
