Cough Syrup Base Recipe

I saw this article yesterday: Preparing For The Winter and decided to give the remedy a try. This will be used for cough syrup or sore throat syrup.

16 oz. local raw honey
1.5 lemons (with rind,) sliced thin
1-inch knob ginger, sliced thin

Put lemon and ginger slices in 24-ounce jar. Pour 16-oz. honey over all, until completely immersed. Stir until all air bubbles are dispersed. Keep in refrigerator until lemon and ginger slices dissolve (may take several weeks.) The concoction will look like marmalade.

This can be used to flavor tea or other drinks by the teaspoonful. Can also be taken directly from the spoon as a remedy for coughs or sore throats.
Honey is an excellent 'preservative' and will last indefinitely. As this is used, you can keep 'topping it off' by adding more lemon, ginger and honey, as long as the lemon and ginger are completely covered.

Curried Chicken Recipe

I got this idea from an image shared on Facebook by Kris' Health Blog.

1 lb. chicken meat, cut in strips
1/4 lb. raw butter
black pepper, to taste
sea salt, to taste
curry powder, to taste
garlic powder, to taste
2 large lettuce leaves

Melt butter, with spices, on low heat. Add chicken. Raise heat to high. Stir until chicken is thoroughly coated. Cook until the chicken has a slightly crispy coating. Serve on lettuce leaf. Pour excess butter over all.

Oven-Roasted Cheese-Stuffed Bacon-Wrapped Peppers Recipe

I got the idea for this recipe here: Cheese Stuffed, Bacon Wrapped Banana Peppers But, since I don't have a smoker or barbecue, I adapted it.

4 large Banana Peppers (mine were sweet peppers, but you could use hot peppers if you like)
Bacon - enough to wrap peppers completely (I did NOT have enough, so my peppers are not covered completely as you can see in the pictures)
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/2 block cream cheese

Wash peppers. Cut off top and de-seed the peppers, using thin knife so as not to cut the sides. 
Mix together the cheeses. Use a small spoon with a long handle to stuff the cheese mixture into the peppers. 
Starting at the top opening of the pepper, wrap bacon around the length of the pepper. Use skewers to hold bacon in place. Place peppers on grill.
Set oven at 400F (do not preheat) and place grill on middle oven rack. Cook for 30 minutes, or until bacon is crisp and peppers are tender.

Homemade Butter Recipe

My plan was to make a small batch of whipped cream, so I skimmed some raw cream off of our latest batch of raw milk from our local farmer.
I wanted to do it by hand, the old-fashioned way. This was taking way to long with the small whisk. So, I got out my grandma's old egg beater.
Then I got distracted just as I was getting to the whipped peaks stage ... and ... I made sweet cream butter! And, a little buttermilk! So, not a real loss. Love me some raw butter!!
